The end of Shopify Unite

Last year, Shopify shared its plans to transform Shopify Unite into a series of events held in cities around the world. The company expressed its enjoyment of connecting with the community but acknowledged the challenge of reaching everyone due to logistical constraints.

In conjunction with this announcement, Shopify introduced Shopify Editions, an innovative digital platform that consolidated the most significant product updates for the ecosystem. This allowed users to interact with these updates at any time and from any location.

In line with its ongoing evolution, Shopify now intends to expand the reach of Shopify Unite. Instead of limiting the event to a handful of cities, the company aims to provide a broader experience targeting a larger number of developers. In early 2024, Shopify will transition to a virtual event where developers will have the opportunity to engage with the Shopify team and delve deeper into the latest releases for the developer platform. This virtual event will include interactive elements such as office hours and technical Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions. Further updates will be shared in due course.

While virtual gatherings ensure inclusivity, Shopify recognizes the value of in-person connections to the community. Therefore, the company plans to introduce new formats for in-person gatherings in the near future. Stay tuned for more details.

Shopify is excited to collaborate with the community and continue shaping the future of commerce together.
